I have been contemplating the connection between our fast food, instant society and giving up on our dreams and our self, after a brief time. There has to be a connection between this and lack of persistence, patience and tenacity. We can’t wait.
Instant potatoes, just add water, heat and eat.
Big Mac, drive through, made to order, instant dinner.
Disposable Camera, just point, shoot, develop and throw away.
We want it now or yesterday if possible.
I have seen the expectation of instant success so often in Network Marketing. I bring someone into my team and they are extremely excited. They can see the vision, they love the products and they can see how it will help them bring their dreams off the shelf and give them life again. If we choose network marketing internet business as our career or our business, we definitely have an ultimate dream which is FINANCIAL REWARD or FREEDOM.
Now here is what I have seen happen:
- They go home and are never heard from again. They don’t answer my phone calls. They have vanished!
- They go home and start telling all of their friends and their business grows really fast then comes to a screeching halt.
- They build to a certain level and start making excuses, such as, “my down-line isn’t doing anything”, “no one wants to buy the products”, ” I can’t get anyone to do parties”, “this isn’t working” and soon after that they are gone.
These are all examples of giving up one the dream. In the first scenario someone has said something that broke their confidence. When they were looking for validation that they had done the right thing starting a business, they hear just the opposite and that is it. They give up!
Each of these is also a commentary on areas in themselves that need work. Network Marketing is a personal development workshop with a compensation plan! The only reason someones business is not working is them. It has nothing to do with someone being negative, or the down line not doing anything or no one doing parties, it is a direct reflection of the person trying to build a business. It is common knowledge that it takes 3-5 years to build a successful business and it isn’t a get-rich-quick-scheme.
Our dreams are not disposable nor do they manifest in an instant. You don’t just add water, heat and serve. They take time and they need to be nurtured while we nurture and trust ourselves. It doesn’t matter if Joe Blow Brother-in law thinks you are crazy for starting a business, or if Sister Suzy Que doesn’t believe your product will work. Or Francis Best Friend is jealous and doesn’t support you. You had the vision and it sparks a dream in you and that is all that matters. Why would you give up on your dream in an instant? Why wouldn’t you give it time to marinate and mature? Why would you jump ship at the first obstacle?
I think it is because of the unconscious program that things should be easy, they should happen instantaneously and if they don’t they are disposable. I think we listen to friends and family and give up because they are running on the same program. We do it with relationships, with our business and our dreams. We give up and move on to the next opportunity, the next relationship, hoping this will be the one.
“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you want to change your life, begin by changing your words. Start speaking the words of your dreams, of who you want to become, not the words of fear and failure” Robert Kiyosaki
We need all the Dream Warriors we can get to change this fast food, instant program. There will always be someone who doesn’t believe in your dream. Just ignore them!
